  • USE ALL THE LINKS - It has taken us some time to put together all of the links for mortgage protection insurance. Make sure you are getting the best deal possible by using all of the links that apply to the cover you require. OK, it might take you a few minutes getting quotes from them all, but you're here to save money aren't you?
  • COVER - Decide on what sort of policy you are looking for, and be sure to check when the policies will pay out as most have an 'indemnity period' - for example the first three months after losing your job when they won't pay anything. Also, make sure you are being covered for what you require. If you're worried about redundancy, make sure this is not excluded on the contract. If redundancy isn;t a problem, try excluding this for a cheaper monthly premium. 
  • DO I REALLY NEED IT? - Redundancy is more likely now than it has been for a few years, due to the recession. If you think your job is safe, then what happens if you become ill and are unable to work? Or have an accident in a car, or on a sports field. How long will your employer pay you when you are not working? You should check your contract of employment to find this out. Mortgage protection insurance should be seriously considered by all homeowners.
